What Is SynMax Labs

Our research and development team works at the intersection of satellite imagery, artificial intelligence, sensor fusion, and data science to push the boundaries of what intelligence can be. Labs is not a product. It is the engine behind our products, the place where questions like "can we detect this from space?" turn into operational capabilities that our customers rely on.

Every major SynMax product capability started here. When we first asked whether satellite imagery could systematically verify power plant construction timelines, that was Labs. When we developed methods to identify vessels that had gone dark, that was Labs. When we pioneered thermal sensing to confirm whether a facility was actually energized, that was Labs. We believe the best intelligence companies are built on continuous technical ambition.
Labs is how we stay ahead.
Our Foundation

Agentic AI

Building autonomous analytical systems that can reason across datasets, surface anomalies, and generate intelligence products with minimal human intervention. SynMax Agents represents our most ambitious research direction: systems that don’t just process data, but actively investigate, validate, and deliver finished intelligence. This capability is being deployed across both energy and maritime domains and is expected to become a standalone offering as it matures.

GLOBAL SIGNAL MONITOR

Satellite Imagery Analysis

Developing new methods for extracting structured intelligence from optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery. Our work spans change detection, object classification, temporal pattern recognition, and automated site monitoring at global scale.

Construction and Infrastructure Detection

Advancing our ability to identify, classify, and track physical development activity, from land clearing to structural completion, across power plants, data centers, LNG facilities, and other critical infrastructure.

Thermal and Multi-Sensor Intelligence

Advancing our ability to identify, classify, and track physical development activity, from land clearing to structural completion, across power plants, data centers, LNG facilities, and other critical infrastructure.

Predictive Modeling

Building forward-looking models that translate current construction activity, project pipelines, and market signals into probabilistic forecasts. Our goal is to give customers not just what is happening now, but what is likely to happen next.

From Research to Product

SynMax Labs is not theoretical.
Every focus area has a direct line to our deployed products:

Vulcan’s thermal energization detection began as a Labs experiment to determine whether drone-captured thermal signatures could confirm if a facility was truly online. It is now a production capability.

Theia’s dark vessel methodology started as a research question: can we find vessels that have deliberately turned off their tracking signals? Labs developed the satellite-based detection pipeline that Theia uses today.

Hyperion’s pipeflow intelligence evolved from Labs work on ingesting and interpreting satellite data at scale for commodity trading applications.

This is the cycle: Labs explores, validates, and builds. When a capability proves valuable, it moves into a product. When a product encounters a limitation, the question goes back to Labs.
